Ashfall Legion

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Ashfall Legion is the kind of mobile RPG I wish there were more of. You build a party of four, drift across a ruined continent, and fight in clean turn-based battles that reward planning over reflexes. The writing carries real weight — characters remember your choices and the tone stays somber without getting grim for its own sake.

The touch interface is thoughtful. Dragging a character to reorder the turn queue feels natural, and status effects are shown with clear icons instead of tiny text. I dropped the animation speed to fast in the settings and battles became a joy to churn through. Battery use is moderate; a long dungeon run warmed my phone but nothing alarming.

If you want short sessions, the auto-save is generous, so you can leave mid-fight and come back later. It's a big game and the early hours are a little slow, but stick with it and it opens up beautifully.
