Five settings that quietly save your battery
Most mobile games ship with settings tuned to look impressive in a store screenshot, not to survive a long day away from a charger. The good news is that a few toggles can cut battery use dramatically without ruining the experience.
Start with the frame rate cap. Racers and 3D games often default to the highest possible refresh rate. Dropping to 30 or 60 fps can nearly halve the heat on a busy scene, and in something like a racer you'll barely notice during actual play.
Next, look for a brightness or effects slider inside the game itself, separate from your system brightness. Heavy bloom and particle effects are surprisingly expensive. Turning them down often makes text more readable too.
Finally, kill background audio downloads and high-res texture streaming if the game offers those options. I've measured genuinely different battery curves just from these changes across the games we review, and none of them hurt the fun.
